A huge well done to all students who took part in the 'RIAT on the Road 2024 Space

Engineering Challenge'. Judged on 4 criteria, including a presentation and performance of

their final solution, Group 4 - Arthur, Freddie, Finlay, Harry and Lincoln - were announced

winners and will go to the finals at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford.

Fantastic work from our Year 9 Geographers! Students built 3D

landscapes, writing a step by step guide explaining how we go

from a fault in a headland to a stack/stump.

UNICEF Rights Respecting School: Rights

Committed School

The Cotswold School is delighted to have been awarded the UNICEF

Rights Respecting School Bronze Award: Rights Committed School,

meaning that the school is committed to enabling students to achieve

their goals in a safe and inspiring learning environment - and that we all

understand the Rights of the Child, the legal articles and rights that all

children across the world are legally protected with.





Last term, we said goodbye and good luck to our Y11 and Y13s. It was a great opportunity to

celebrate, as well as a chance to reflect on their time here at The Cotswold School. We are

Spanish Exchange

In April, we welcomed the Spanish exchange group from our partner school IES 8Cornelio Balbo9

in Cádiz, they had a wonderful time with their host families and their partners at The Cotswold

School. Five weeks later, we returned the visit and thoroughly enjoyed our experiences in the

beautiful province of Andalucía. We gained invaluable insights into Spanish school life; sampled

some very different types of food; enjoyed the beautiful weather; the beaches and mountains;

and, of course, we practised our Spanish and learned lots of interesting new words.

Duke of Edinburgh

Year 9 students embarked on their Bronze DofE expedition last term, showing positive

attitudes and teamwork during the whole weekend, well done! A huge thank you to all

members of staff who went along to support the students.

Celebrating DofE Gold students at Buckingham Palace

On Friday May 10, nine students who have completed their Gold DofE were invited to

Buckingham Palace to celebrate their achievements. Well done to all of those involved, what a

fabulous achievement!

Well done to our Silver DofE students who completed their expedition in the Forest of Dean

over half term - congratulations all!

Thank you to all members of staff who have volunteered their weekends and holidays to

facilitate such wonderful opportunities for our students.

Sports News

Congratulations to Year 8 students Tara, Lottie and

Tilly who took part in the School Equestrian Games

One Day Event (ODE) Broadway, achieving incredible

results -Tara (8th), Lottie (1st and 3rd) and Tilly (6th

and 7th) - and qualifying them for the School

Equestrian Games (SEG) National Eventing

Championships later in the year.

We were delighted to welcome Olympic athlete Donna Fraser, OBE, into school to run an

athletics workshop - what an amazing experience!

Well done to Chloe and Hattie (Y8), Allegra

for Lily and 7th for Hattie.

Success at NSEA Arena Eventing competition

Well done to Sam (Year 10) who competed in the

British Karting Championships recently, finishing a

brilliant 10th out of 64 competitors!

A huge well done to Fin (Y11) who achieved a silver medal in the 50m

backstroke whilst competing in the South West Regional

Championships. Fin is the second fastest in his age group in the South

West!

Our PTA will be holding a Car Boot Sale on Sunday 14 July. To book a pitch, email

[email protected]. Pitches are £10 in advance, or £12 on the day.

Reminders

Years 11 and 13 student reminder - returning textbooks

All textbooks, or any other library loans, need to be returned by the date of your final exam.

Books can be left in the canteen while registering for exams, or returned directly to the

library. Any books still outstanding at the end of term will be invoiced accordingly. Thank

you in advance.
